The Times reports that curbs will be put on fines from bus lanes after councils were criticised for fleecing drivers on an “industrial scale”.
In fact, the whole Government legislation is a mess with councils outside London getting a raw deal compared to those in the Capital because:
1. No moving traffic enforcement is permitted outside London (and Wales) to help improve road safety and traffic flows
2. The level of PCN charges for bus lanes and on-street parking is half that in London
Before trying to spread more confusion, what about some urgency in applying much needed fairness and consistency across the UK?
