Carmarthenshire County Council is now using a Videalert MEV (Mobile Enforcement Vehicle) to provide enforcement of squares in Carmarthen town centre where previous efforts to prevent parking have been frustrated by determined motorists.
A publicity campaign was run in February and March to explain the enforcement measures that were being introduced. During this period, motorists parking in the squares were issued with warning letters by hand along with details of the new enforcement regime.
The council plans to deploy the MEV more widely in future, including in ‘problem areas’ in Ammanford and Llanelli.
